Question / Help Black screen with DOTA2 game capture.

GAME CAPTURE MODE: I set the game options to "Borderless window" but nothing shows up.. just black screen. No mouse cursor either.

However, when I set it to SOFTWARE CAPTURE and do window capture for dota, a image(dota maing screen) shows and mouse shows. But the problem is that the image is like a screenshot and nothing changes.

Edit. Starcraft works though.

i also tried another steam(valve) game and it didn't work either. Same issue.

Is there something different you have to do when you try to stream a steam(valve) game?

I'm sort of derailing the thread here, so forgive me in advance, but do not rely on the checkbox as an "on/off" feature. It's enable/disable. Any sources you have in your scene whether enabled or disabled, are active.

There could be a number of reasons why it's not working, valve games work great on my end so I need more information about what's going on with your end. Update to the latest version, try again, and then post the %appdata%\obs\pluginData\captureHookLog.txt file here so I can see what's going on internally with the capture (I need to somehow get this into the main obs log file)

After what you said about the enable/disable versus on/off, I found our that what windowed mode does is the image basically take a screenshot of the game when OBS boots up (you can see the mouse movements but the image is still and doesn't move).
So if you have OBS booted up and then start the game, the image is the dota 2 loading screen.
If dota 2 is already loaded and you boot up OBS, the image is whatever the game screen screen shows at the time of booting.

Game capture mode is still a black screen and no mouse movement visible.

I actually know of that error it's getting, but it's very unusual. Could you go into c:\windows\system32\ and right click on d3d9.dll, go to properties, go to "details" and tell me what version number it is?

It isnt working for me i just updated it yesterday and from then on i have not been able to show LoL with game capture anymore, when streaming i have to now use window and moniter which i dont want to do as lowers quality of stream and means that it will show whole desktop while i am in game which furthermore can ruin my security within skype ect.
Please can someone help and tell me a way to stop having just a black screen. although i can still see mouse ????????
