Question / Help Preview/Start stream causing games to crash

Hey,

im currently using v0.592b and whenever i go to start or preview my stream it just instantly crashes my game and i cant figure out why.

First of all, if the game is crashing, then it almost always means that there's a hook conflict. What this means is that there's another program trying to capture the game or overlay onto the game. If you have other programs such as fraps/shadowplay, you may want to completely shut them down before using OBS. If using a program that gives you an overlay, such as mumble or teamspeak, completely disable those overlays and restart the programs or computer.

Second, if this is your first time, and/or if you're getting a black screen, then just so you know you have your laptop set up incorrectly. You have the bottom adapter selected in OBS, which is bad. You need to select the top adapter in the video adapter drop-down in OBS' video settings, then you need to use nvidia control panel in windows' control panel and properly configure OBS.exe to use the nvidia. That will cause OBS to load up on the nvidia properly.
