|Summary||0000702: Allow using string paths in v4l2 camera selection dialog|
I have two identical HDMI capture cards connected to OBS (Magewell XI100DUSB-HDMI).
Right now, in OBS I have no way to tell which is which: The name just appears as "XI100DUSB-HDMI" for both.
It's rather tricky to select the correct one, and if you select the wrong one that is already selected in the scene for another camera, OBS fails to capture that camera and needs a restart, even if you select the correct one after the fact.
Also, even if I have both cameras correctly configured, the next time I restart my computer the cameras will switch their device nodes, and OBS captures the wrong camera in the wrong window. Then repeat setting it up again to work needing OBS restarts...
So my idea: Why don't have an "advanced" setting to specify the path to the device manually? I have some udev rules set-up that create links to the devices based on their serial numbers, and those will always point to the right device.
If I could put these into OBS, it would always user the correct camera.
What do you guys think about this idea? (I do not know if that problem exists on Windows/Mac, so not sure if there needs to be a cross-platform solution.)
