Hello,
I apologize for this request, as it is not explicitly related to OBS, but my avenues for asking for aid are limited.
I've purchased this capture card: http://solarisjapan.com/products/xcapture-1-usb-3-0-hd-capture-unit
As per a friend's recommendation, I acquired a Renesas USB3.0 expansion card for my computer to use this device.
The device has so far worked well for any console using composite cables, thanks to the packaged breakout cables. I am unable to capture HDMI input, however.
I can unplug and replug the cable from HDMI-in and sometimes see a few clear frames of my game console before it falls away to a black screen with the words NO SIGNAL in the centre. I have tested XBOX One, XBOX 360, Playstation 3, Playstation 4 and Wii U and have received the same result from each of them when using HDMI. The properties window for the capture device in OBS does show it receiving a signal at the bottom, labelled "1920 X 1080 @ 60FPS" etc...
The card came bundled with the VideoKeeper2 software which shows the same black screen with the words NO SIGNAL in the centre. The header for this software shows the current FPS and it hovers around 1 FPS, I am unsure if that's the single frame showing there is no signal, or if the card is unable to output enough information for the computer to turn into video.
This is what I need to find out.
The Japanese FAQ page for the device describes the issue potentially being related to a bad USB3 cable, lack of a USB3.0 card to plug into, or having the card unpowered. Would any of those scenarios not present an issue when trying to capture with composite as well? I don't understand why only HDMI is failing to come through when passthrough to my TV works.
I have tried using the packaged drivers and using the updated drivers located on the Micomsoft website, I have reinstalled my expansion card drivers once as the packaged ones were the same version as is what is available on the Renesas site for download.
Please let me know what additional information you may require to answer my questions, I will provide them with the best of my capabilities. In the meantime, I am happy to stream Playstation 2 games but would be even more happy to have this issue resolved before the release of Bloodborne so that I may stream it to my growing viewerbase.
Thank you for your time in reading this, have a good day.
