Question / Help USB Audio Input Shows, but No Sound

I am trying to connect sound from my Mixer to my OBS system going on my Macbook. I am using a USB connection. USB shows up in my Audio Midi Setup. It shows in my Sound/System Preferences. I can select it in OBS, but none of the locations register any sound from the mixer. I turning everything off and restarting with the mixer first. I tried using a different USB port. I tried using a different USB cord. I've spent hours researching the issue, browsing help sites, but still can't get it to work. I am stumped on how to solve this problem, and it has halted my streaming programs. I'd appreciate any help you could offer. Thx in advance.

So it's a 12 input mixer. OBS is basically a stereo program that also supports surround sound, but it doesn't really understand multichannel devices.

With LoopBack I can create a virtual device and manually map the channels from a hardware device that I want. I am not sure if that is possible with iShowU or just with MIDI setup.

Yes, but OBS does not know which of the 12 channels that is because it is expecting devices to only be stereo.

You may also want to check that your drivers are the latest.
So is there a way for me to import the sound as just a stereo mix?
Yes, but the only way I know of is by using third party software that lets you manually create virtual devices and map the channels you want.

If you create an aggregate device in MIDI setup and include the mixer, and use that aggregate as an input in OBS, does that work?

In LoopBack I would be able to make a new virtual device, add the mixer as a source, turn on manual channel mapping, and then select which channel(s) I wanted. You might want to download a demo and see if that works-- no sense in wasting time with it if that isn't actually your problem.

I thought it was a driver issue but it seems Behringer doesn't ship with them, they're just supposed to be standard USB audio devices, no special driver required.

Aggregate didn't work, as input still shows no level. iRig didn't work, as plugging it into the headphone jack, only shows as output. Ugh. Willing to try LoopBack. Is that similar to Protools. I already have that. Do I need to set up something within the program (LoopBack or Protools) to make it work, or just set up in Audio Midi Set-up?

No, not similar to ProTools. It's not a DAW, it's closer to a combination of Voicemeeter Banana and Virtual Audio Cables, combined. It has its own UI that does what MIDI setup does, plus more.

You should be able to use it to make a virtual device, add the mixer to it as a hardware input, then turn on manual channel routing and select which of the mixer's channels are in the virtual device, then use that as an input in OBS.

If that doesn't work there's something more fundamental at issue.

Im using Behringer XENYX X2222USB on OBS without a problem... I believe your's should be very easy to setup too... so just to clarify things: Can you hear the sound coming out from the speaker through the device's main output? Have you check if the channels you're using is not muted (or the pan is at the center)? Can you see the input level inside the System Preferences->Sound->Input working when the device is selected? (the answer is No from what Ive read)... How about the device's volume meter?.... Does it work on other computers?

Thank you so much for your input. I really appreciate your help. I contacted Sweetwater for their support. The rep worked with me for over an hour trying to solve the problem. After pushing a bunch of buttons on the mixer, I was able to get some sound into OBS. But, it sounded terrible in my monitor. He had some hardware recommendations. Long story short, I ended up going back to my Onyx Blackjack Interface, instead of my mixer. It worked perfectly, the audio now comes in with no problem through the USB port into OBS. I was able to do my first live broadcast tonight with audio working great! That only took me like 4 months to get there. Thanks again for your assistance.

I'm having the same issue with the same mixer (x1204usb) - The difference is mine was actually working and I've done a number of live streams with this mixer and OBS. Now, all of a sudden, with no settings being changed, the audio is going through the mixer fine but not showing up in OBS through the input meters. I tried recording to see if it was just the meters but no, no sound was coming in.

I'm going to post this as a new thread because it makes no sense that it worked for weeks and now isn't. I tried different usb ports and cables, restarting, etc.

I'm having issues getting sound into obs through my IRig hd2, through usb not a Jack. Using pioneer ddj800, bud as it's an analogue signal I don't think that makes much difference.
I'm getting sound to the iMac, it registers in the sound metre in preferences but not in obs although the IRig is selected.

Have you been able to solve the problem? I have some experience as a sound engineer and know my way around.
If you ever need support.
I use X32 rack going to pc (obs) via 1/4 to 3.5 into back of pc. I am using a mix-bus routed to my aux out 3 to pc. And this has worked fine this past year. The problem is the quality could be better. So i figured out how to use the interface on the X32 to route via my card out.. i tested it on my Mac book pro ( which i also have obs on) and everything worked perfectly, quality was much better. BUT when i plug the usb into my pc, which is how we livestream, i get. NO signal in obs. Obs sees the device but no sound..I have signal reading in pc sound settings (microphone-x-usb). But when i add audio input capture in obs i choose mic. X-usb and there is no signal. Ive tried switching usb slots, Ive tried stereo and mono, Ive spent days trying to switch settings trying to get this to work... the thing is my pc is getting a reading via usb (mic. X-usb).. obs is seeing the device as mic.X-usb but i get NO sound through OBS.... what could be the issue?
