Output audio & video to separate files?

I use sony vegas for video editing. It allows h.264 inside an mp4 container, and it allows .wav files, but it will not allow mkv files, or avi files with h.264 video & wav.

So what I do is I record an mkv contained h.264 video/wav audio file with OBS, then use avidemux to demux the audio to a .wav and the video to a .mp4 file. The problem is this wastes a step - it would be amazing if I could get OBS to pipe the audio to a .wav file, and the video to a .mp4 file with no audio attached.

I would happily make a 2nd donation to OBS if possible to get this accomplished, I love this program! I could record aac audio with the .mp4 but then I would have a generation of loss on the recording, which I am looking to avoid. Also sincerely doubt I will ever get Sony's ear on accepting matroska container, so I figured I would ask here.

Thank you!

I wasn't able to answer my question, but I was able to find a solution that actually allows playback in vegas without remuxing/demuxing anything. I set it to use mov as a container, and this allows me to use an uncompressed wav file with libx264 x264 encoder in the same file, and have amazing quality.I can set pcm_s16le as my audio encoder so I get perfect, uncompressed audio and "qp=10 keyint=1 preset=ultrafast tune=fastdecode" with libx264 as my encoder. While not lossless video, it is the next best thing vegas will support before working with lossless, and damned if my eyes will ever tell a difference.

I hope this helps save someone else the hell of remuxing/demuxing!
