Heyho,
I am exclusively doing Let's Plays and Reviews on youtube, which basically means that the files can be big, but shouldn't be huge because I store all of them on HDDs and have to upload them.
Previously on my old PC I used FRAPS, which resulted in about 100GB per hour of game play, which were then converted in a smaller format of 1-4GB per hour.
Now I got a much better PC (6700k) and wanted to use OBS instead. But it seems like I am having trouble finding the sweet spot.
As recording format I chose mp4 as I can't edit flv with Premiere. As Encoder I chose x264, just because it seems to be the standard choice.
Now I tested recording.
First I recorded 1h with the Quality: High Quality, Medium File Size, which resulted in about 2GB per hour. But the quality wasn't top notch and it looked washed out.
Next I recorded 1h with the Quality: Indistringuishable Quality, large File Size, which resulted in 10GB per hour. The quality is pristine.
So my question is, if there is any way to get something in between. In fraps the same file would like have been like 4GB which was pretty optimal. But with 10GB files, I will burn through Hard Drive Space like nothing if I am recording around 100h a month.
What does Custom Muxer Settings do? Is this some magic setting which I could use to get some in between setting?
