I am trying to connect a Sony camcorder HDR-HC9 to a 2011 MacBook Pro (MBP) running Mac OS X 10.8.5 to use as a Video Capture Device for OBS. The HC9 connects to the MBP over a Firewire 4-pin to 9-pin cable.
I downloaded and installed OBS 0.12.4 (mac). The Firewire connection is good. The MBP can capture video in iMovie. Also, another streaming program Wirecast works fine.
However, OBS does not see the Firewire camera. In the main window, Sources>Video Capture Device>Create new, when the Properties for 'Video Capture Device' window opens, the only device available under Device pulldown menu is FaceTime HD Camera(built-in). There is no choice for the Firewire camera.
Has anyone been able to use a camera connected over Firewire to OBS?
