Is there anyway to edit the video I already created so I can turn down the desktop/game sound so I can hear my son's voice? He worked really hard on it. Does the software save to a format that allows you to open it back up in OBS? I haven't figured out how to find the log file, sorry.

The OBS help has a list of post production tools that could be used for a variety of different tasks:

If your video contains a mix of too loud game sound and a drowned voice in the same audio track, it's not really possible to change the volume of only one part.

If the voice is missing completely, and you recorded game audio and voice audio to different audio tracks, you need to mix both tracks with a postprocessing software. Media players will only play back one single track, which you can switch in the audio setup of the media player, and if you actually recorded game audio and voice audio to different tracks, you will be able to hear either of them, but not both at the same time.

Thank you Koala! Not the answer I wanted but now I know. It looks like we’ll have to rethink our plan of attack.

So we are recording my son playing Minecraft on his Nintendo Switch, using a Cam Link 4K adapter. We never even heard the game sounds until we listened to the recorded audio after the fact. I'm very new to OBS and I'm not sure if I have it set up so that the game sounds and desktop audio are recording separately or not. Where would I go in setting to see this?

1. as new, unless you specifically played with Track in the OBS Studio > Settings > Recording section, then no, by default they wouldn't be separate tracks

See Audio Source > Advanced Audio properties for Monitor and/or Output (link below explains)
