Question / Help Missing audio when playing MP4s on Mac?

So I record on my PC and save as MP4 and the videos play fine on my PC, but when I copy the file onto my external hard drive and try to edit on my Mac in iMovie, sometimes the audio is missing? It's not my mic because it's happened with two different mic and Apple support couldn't help me :(

Anyone else having this problem?

Use vlc
It's probably an imovie problem.

Does VLC edit? I wish I knew why only some videos don't play audio in iMovie, most of them do.

avidemux plays nice with those files.
