Bug Report Issues with mouse and crashing.

I just got OBS and am streaming Path of Exile.

Though, I've noticed that OBS crashes, a lot. 2 different types of crashes, either it freezes and windows looks for a fix, or it gives me a crash output. Though I don't know where it saves these crash reports. If someone can direct me to it, I'll post it. There doesn't seem to be any correlation with what I'm doing to when it crashes. Seems like it crashes MORE often when using game capture vs software capture. Not to mention, it forces me to play in Windowed Fullscreen. Which I would rather play in fullscreen, as it's less hardware intensive.

Second thing, I have it set up using Software Capture to capture my whole screen, and while I have windows open and such, you can see my pointer on the stream, but as soon as I'm in game, my pointer is gone. Even if I mouse off of a window (while still keeping it focused on windows) my pointer disappears.

After some playing around, wanting to use Fullscreen, I've noticed that when I have game capture on and I switch the software to fullscreen, it shows my pointer for a split second, then OBS crashes my game client with a Directx 3d error. Software Capture doesn't crash my game, but it doesn't display it in the stream, just a black screen. So if I want to see my pointer, I have to run fullscreen with Game Capture, but Game Capture crashes PoE. So is it impossible for my viewers to see my pointer? I'd rather just get xsplit if that is the case.

Looking to get these 2 things worked out. My viewers asked me to check the display mouse pointer option, and I already had it checked, so I'm not sure why it's not showing.

The crashing thing is getting out of hand. i have to constantly reboot the stream (and thus, anyone who is following me on twitch gets spammed with emails) Sometimes it crashes in 5 minutes, sometimes 2 hours. Sometimes it crashes 5 times in a row. Its confusing.

The mouse pointer bug is an issue with some games at the moment. Game capture I would also like to note tends to have issues with multi-GPU laptops.

So what's the fix? Game Capture worked just fine with Mass Effect 3. But not with Path of Exile. Is there a work around? Or should I switch to xsplit?

How do I fix the crashing? No mouse pointer is one thing, but when OBS crashes constantly, then there is a problem

Normally it just has to be force closed cuz it freezes up totally. Can't go live on my stream when it's crashing every 17 seconds.

That looks like it's the drivers for the intel GPU crashing. You sure you have both the game and OBS running on your dedicated GPU?

Also, like Jim said, some games have issues with mouse, so you may have to wait for a fix.

There is only 1 option in PoE for the game to run on. My NVIDIA card.

There is no option, that I can see, in OBS for me to choose what video card it should run on.

So if they are running on some Intel card (that I didn't even know I have, as I have a GTX 675) then I don't know how to change it.

Thats fine if I have to wait for a fix, but OBS crashes even when I'm NOT using Game Capture. It crashes constantly. even when I'm not doing anything with a game. Just on my desktop, and it will crash. No idea why. Checked for updates in my drivers, I am totally up to date with my video drivers.

When using ANYTHING flash related. OBS crashes in less than 2 minutes. over and over and over and over. I have gone on and offline 20 times in the last half hour. This is the most unstable software I have ever used. And I'm not seeing any support from the companies end. The only answer I got was "Mouse is bugged with some games, and game capture sucks"

What about the constant crashing. I told you, I can deal without it showing my mouse, and I can deal with using software capture. but I'm tired of having to constantly restart this software every 1-5 minutes.

Going to continue to post my errors everytime it crashes until I get a real reply that is of some use.

When using ANYTHING flash related. OBS crashes in less than 2 minutes. over and over and over and over. I have gone on and offline 20 times in the last half hour. This is the most unstable software I have ever used. And I'm not seeing any support from the companies end. The only answer I got was "Mouse is bugged with some games, and game capture sucks"

What about the constant crashing. I told you, I can deal without it showing my mouse, and I can deal with using software capture. but I'm tired of having to constantly restart this software every 1-5 minutes.

Going to continue to post my errors everytime it crashes until I get a real reply that is of some use.

First off, OBS isn't developed by a company, It's developed by one guy, Jim, who does work on this software, FOR FREE. He doesn't get paid to make OBS, he does it because he likes it. Everyone helping, either with development, and support, is providing you a service, for free. Meaning, they don't get paid. I'm going to be completely honest here, your post makes you sound like a self centered brat. Be a little more considerate.

Second, he specifically said

The mouse pointer bug is an issue with some games at the moment. Game capture I would also like to note tends to have issues with multi-GPU laptops.

No where in that quote does he say that game capture sucks. He said it has issues with multi-GPU laptops, of which, yours is. You need to force OBS to run on the nvidia card, Through the nvidia control panel, not in obs.

You'll need to do something like this:

If you're using a 5xx series or 6xx series mobile GPU from nvidia, chances are you have Optimus which auto-switches between the Intel GPU and the nvidia GPU. If Optimus doesn't detect OBS as a "game" it will have it use the Intel GPU instead of the nvidia, causing the problems you describe. Try setting a manual rule to force OBS to run on your nvidia GPU, and see if that fixes things. I think Jim as a developer may also be able to submit OBS to the Optimus application database so that it can be correctly auto-detected in the future.

There is only 1 option in PoE for the game to run on. My NVIDIA card.

There is no option, that I can see, in OBS for me to choose what video card it should run on.

So if they are running on some Intel card (that I didn't even know I have, as I have a GTX 675) then I don't know how to change it.

Thats fine if I have to wait for a fix, but OBS crashes even when I'm NOT using Game Capture. It crashes constantly. even when I'm not doing anything with a game. Just on my desktop, and it will crash. No idea why. Checked for updates in my drivers, I am totally up to date with my video drivers.

The problem is with games themselves and things they do with the mouse, not Game Capture specifically.
