I just cant make it work right

Please help.. what I really need is someone explicitly show me how to make this work.. it just cannot be this complicated. I have all the parts in place
Mac laptop OS Ventura 13.2.1 /downloaded and installed BlackHole16ch/ I have all the proper preferenes windos and input/output selectors open.
* what I am simply trying to do is stream a video down my cam. the video has audio signal, and it all works except for the fact I figured out my built in mic is capturing the speakerplayback and that is why people can hear the audio. A seemingly seperate issue is that I cannot actually mute my mic no matter what I do. When I put on headpones the whole operation is kaput.
I have done an endless dance of watching vidoes and reading forum threads and it seems that this has been endlessly coverd but I still cannot get it right.
WHAT AM I DOING WRONG.? why is this so damn complicated..
seems easy enough. i want to speak thru my head phone mic. while seperately sending video sound down the line. seperately, so I can use headpones to speak and monitor(or not) the video sound.
Im so frusetrate i want to smash my mac.. someonow I know its thier stupid fault. ( trying to make things easier ) I feel stupid

Actually, I'm very technical...and I really struggled in the beginning. Yes, it can be that complicated... isn't once you understand the basics of how OBS Studio works, but the learning curve can be steep if new to these types of compositing tools (I was)

And semantics matters... sorry it simply does... we aren't in the room with you, don' t know you, and you aren't paying for someone to be a patient trainer ... etc. so.. don't say something like
'stream a video down my cam' as there is no such thing ( I get being frustrated.. I really do... but with technical terms having specific implications, it is important to be careful in what you write/ask. not a criticism, just a caution to get more helpful responses

Of course your mic picks up speakers.. that is why audio routing (in your case a loop) can get tricky. Many apps you are used to (web conference software, etc) has built-in proprietary (patented) echo cancellation software to avoid the issue you are running into. OBS Studio is free, open-source... , so you have to handle some things yourself

You have chosen the wrong audio source if putting on headphones cuts out audio. And make sure you have set up Operating System permissions properly for OBS Studio to access whatever items. In what I was streaming, I removed/disabled Desktop Audio as I NEVER wanted that (only wanted audio from external mixer) BUT depends on your specific setup.

Videos are fine for some things. For this... not so much ... from my perspective.
I recommend checking out a edited/published manual (generously available for free) ...

Years ago I found these OBS Audio related articles helpful

The missing piece is probably a Multi-Output Device in Audio MIDI Setup. You create one that sends audio to both BlackHole and your headphones at the same time, then set that as your system output. In OBS, add BlackHole as an Audio Input Capture instead of relying on Desktop Audio, and put your headphone mic on a separate Audio Input Capture. I went through this same thing setting up for tutorial recordings on my Mac, took me way too long to figure out the multi-output trick.
