Can anyone tell me what to do in this circumstance?

Post a logfile from a session with a streaming or recording attempt. Help->Log Files->Upload Current Log File after trying to stream/record and getting that error message.

Most commonly it means either your GPU drivers are out of date and need to be updated, or you've selected an encoder not supported by your hardware.

09:32:01.511: error: Driver does not support the required nvenc API version. Required: 9.0 Found: 8.1
09:32:01.512: error: The minimum required Nvidia driver for nvenc is 418.81 or newer
09:32:01.514: [NVENC encoder: 'simple_h264_recording'] Failed to open NVENC codec: Function not implemented

Looks like my Nvidia driver needs updating.

I will try that, thank you

:(

I cant get the audio to work, tried a different microphone, tried gain values and what not.

I tried using Sound Forge Audio 13 and it works mint with this yeti caster recording setup.

Has to be the OBS program
