Question / Help Failed to start recording

Hey guys,

I have been able to record without any problems untill now. I am getting the 'Failed to start recording' message and I am kinda clueless as it worked before.
Anyone here that might be able to help me out on this problem?
My canvas and output scales are the following: 5120x1440. I do this so I can just cut it in half afterwards in premiere to seperate the cam and gameplay.

This is my last log:

Thanks in advance!

Ah, I was already afraid that that would be the problem. I know others do this as well. Maybe they are just using the x264 instead of the nvenc. Is it ok to just use the x264 instead of the nvenc then, or would that be a waste

Alright thanks. The other solution would be to change the resolution to 3840x1080, but then I wouldn't be able to record my gameplay in 1440p. To double the canvas and output res. was basically a solution for me to seperate the facecam and gameplay so I could edit these 2 seperatly from eachother in premiere. Geuss I'll have to think about that again then if I really want to record my gameplay in 1440.

The maximum possible resolution for nvenc is 4096x4096. Don't compose your sources horizontally, compose them vertically. I assume you want to record your game at 2560x1440 and simultanously your webcam at 1920x1080. So set the canvas to 2560x2520 (1440+1080=2520).
On the canvas, put your webcam below your game. Don't stretch, let the canvas right to the webcam source stay black.

You can also split horizontally, if you record your webcam at 720p instead of 1080p. You probably don't need 1080p for a facecam anyway.
Set a canvas size of 2560+1280=3640x1440. Record the game with 2560x1440, and into the space left (1280x1440) put the webcam. Don't stretch it, leave the space below the webcam stay black.

Hey! Im an OBS noob but I am having the same issue as described in this post. Can someone walk me through how I get OBS to record gameplay at 5120x1440 please? I have no idea how to split the canvas or whatever so it works
