Let me start with my builds:
Gaming Rig:
i7 6700k
GTX 1080 TI
16gb DDR4 3000mhz
1440p 144hz Gysnc Asus Monitor
Home Server/Streaming Rig:
Ryzen 1700 (stock)
GTX 980
16gb RAM
Elgato 4k60 Pro
BENQ 1080p 144hz Monitor
Via the above specs, I am gaming off of 1 PC, hdmi out to the elgato card in the 2nd pc. When I stream with OBS and it's downscaling to 1280x720, it has no issues. I can stream for hours smooth as silk.
However, tonight I tried to record some raw footage, notice it didn't look right and realized that it was in 720p. So I went to change the resolution manually to 2560x1440p for the record, set all my settings up for quality. Hit record and it instantly fails. OBS gives me an error that says FAILED TO START RECORDING.
In comparison if I use Elgatos crap software to record with, it works flawlessly. 1440p, works at what ever setting I set it to, up to 100+mbps.
I tried to do a bunch of different settings, but if I raise OBS manually over the default max resolution of the monitor that is connected to the streaming PC, 1080p, it instantly gives that error.
Posting the log and hope to get some help. I'm sure it's something simple I'm doing wrong. But i've googled and googled and can't find solid information on this.
