While using a display capture, alt-tabbing at certain times (while a game is loading, for example) causes the display capture to completely freeze, though the cursor is still captured fine.

The only way to fix it is to restart OBS or to re create the display capture source.
Although the only real workaround is to not alt-tab... I would like to have the freedom to alt-tab whenever I can without worry of my recording or stream freezing up.
