Degath submitted a new resource:

Degath's Ducker - audio ducking

Degath's Ducker is a program designed to adjust audio volumes when you speak in the microphone. This effect allows the user to automatically adjust music or game sounds when speaking. The program does not limit the triggering sounds only to microphones but you can use any audio source and any number of sources you like. This goes for target audio sources as well!

I recently made huge improvements to the whole program and there is no guide for the use of the latest version. And in addition...

I tried it, but it does not allow me to select audio source with audio interface

I am not quite sure what you mean but it should show all audio sessions from default endpoints. Defaults being the microphone and playback device chosen from windows sound menu. I might need to add support for the use of all audio endpoints simultaneously in the future.

Edit:
I made a quick fix to include all audio endpoints and their audio sessions. The naming is kind of inconvenient since each endpoint has "Idle" session and for me there are now four of them in the list. I might need to differentiate session naming by endpoint to avoid confusion.

Edit 2:
The program's home page now contains the newest 3.0.2 version which allows the use of all active audio devices recognized by windows.

Just so you know (I've no idea why) - Chrome treats your file as suspicious as it's "not commonly downloaded".

No idea how to fix that but figure I should let you know.

Yeah, I'm aware. I have spent some time studying the issue and there is little more I can do. I have followed the steps required by google to remove the notification but nothing has changed. I guess I could contact google support to maybe fix the issue. But as it states it is quite uncommonly downloaded file with the total being probably below a few thousand.

Just in case someone else is wondering, the notification does not necessarily mean the file is dangerous and in the case of DD this is most certainly not the case. I have ran the file through a VirusTotal scan with the result linked on the top of the download page. This is of course not a guarantee for anything but there is little one can do to assure people of a files safety in the internet.

Check it yourself and let others know it is safe!

ps. There is also a file checking period here before the resource is accepted and I would guess they check the file as well during this time.

Edit: There is one option left for me which would be to digitally sign the file which is not free. And for a free product I am not quite ready to start paying for a service just to remove the notification even if some people decide not to download it.

Hey thanks for the upgrade, I have been checking the software and I notice few things that you can help me with

first I get this error when opening the newest software

Also this is request, but can I also add input device as target? I am playing PS4 and I am using audio interface to
get the sound from PS4, if I can add mic device as target, it will be great

I notice that sometimes audio is not detected, however when I open up below screen, it will start to detect sound
is this bug?

Thank you for your dedication on developing this program

1. It would help greatly if you could send the details in the error message (if it re-appears) to the feedback section on the program's home page or directly to degathsducker@gmail.com.

Edit: Thank you for the details! The error was caused by the program trying to load settings that do not exist. This of course was caused by the fact that there were no settings available due to the program being started for the first time. This bug has now been fixed for the next update as well.

2. I can include the possibility for input devices to be targets as well in the next update. It just never occurred to me that input devices would need the ducking effect.

3. The lack of audio detection has at least one explanation. If the device in question is recording (as it would seem from the picture), the audio device is not actually active unless it is used by some application. DD does not activate the inputs by itself so the received signal will be 0 while the device is inactive. But as soon as you start using the device (like opening the recording devices menu) it becomes active. This is the default behavior.

Thank you for the feedback!

I just posted the error message at your site

also regards to issue #3, so I always need to open recording devices menu to use this software?
I opened OBS and started to record locally without opening recording devices menu and it would still not detect sound at all

Only way for me to use this program is to open recording devices menu, which is not really an issue, but

Thank you for the details! The bug has been fixed.

This behavior seems strange since it should start receiving the signal if it is being used by OBS. You could try setting everything else up before starting DD so that the audio signals are already active from the start. If this does not help, I guess the audio devices menu has to be open. I know I could activate the audio devices but it should not be required.

cool, looking forward for the update!
I really need ducking software and auto duck real time does not work for me.

So you application is excellent!
Thanks

Degath updated Degath's Ducker with a new update entry:

Microphones as targets, one click updating and much more + bugfixes!

User feedback has induced further development and this is the result. As the title states you can now add microphones/input devices to be targets! Also included the first test version of an automatic updater which for now requires the user to click the update button on the top bar. I have not implemented anything like this before so there may be some unexpected behavior. There are also clear buttons to remove all targets or triggers. Hotkeys are also coming but not quite yet. Perhaps in the...

Heyo, I cannot get the v3 application to work as intended as it does not pick up anything from my microphone, the v2 app will but does not have the extra feature set I require.

Are you certain the microphone is currently in use? I mean that if no software is currently using the microphone there is no signal for the ducker to receive either. A thing that caught my eye was that the green bar in the image would imply that it actually is receiving something. There was one case where the peak gain was somehow loaded incorrectly and caused the programs peak signal to be stuck at 5%. If you are certain that the microphone is in use and still does not work, could you send me the peak gain graph so I can make sure it is working as intended. Post it here or email it to degathsducker@gmail.com.

The peak gain graph should always start at the bottom left corner and end at the top right. If for some reason the graph is flat and around the lower limit it would always output a peak of that amplitude regardless of the actual peak.

Thank you and sorry for the inconvenience.

Heyo, thanks for the reply.

When I opened the app to test it again it was working! I don't know what I did as everything is the same except for possibly a restart.

Thanks for your time, great app! =]

Great tool. Would be even greater if there were more options to make the mic more sensitive because when I whisper, nothing gets ducked.

There is almost unlimited control over the sensitivity for the microphone. All you have to do is adjust the Peak Gain of the trigger (microphone) to look more like the picture below.

PeakGain.png

I have previously apologized for the lack of a guide and I realize all the options may not be immediately clear at all. The X-axis of the peak gain graph is the true peak (0-100%) which would also be visible in the recording menu of windows itself. The highlighted red line is about at the 50% mark and represents a theoretical true value. The value is then converted to another value according to the blue line. The result in this case would be approximately a 80% peak visible in the Ducker itself.

This example is of course to make the peak more sensitive to low volume sounds like whispering. To reduce sensitivity you would need to mirror the graph.

Hope this helps!
