Hey forums,
I've been poking around through threads from 5+ years ago and I'm hoping there's some kind of update/new info that I just can't find to resolve this issue.
For the last 5 years I've been running a laptop on Windows 10 where OBS Studio was recording/streaming audio at 100% of Windows audio regardless of what I had it set to and what headphones I was using (Bluetooth, USB, 3.5mm, etc). I got used to that, thinking it was normal, and went to record a stream recently on a new computer running Win11, but found the audio barely got registered by OBS despite it being perfectly clear to me through my headphones. Looked into it further and found that the recording volume is only maxed when I'm using the native Realtek audio device (laptop speakers) or the 3.5mm headphone jack on my HyperX Quadcast S mic. All Bluetooth and USB-based devices are making OBS record at the Windows master volume level, so I have to crank that to 100 and use the headphones to manually turn the audio down for me, versus what I did before where the headset was cranked to max and I used Windows master volume to control what I heard.
I've tried going the VoiceMeeter route, but this computer is used for more than just streaming, and it's too much of a pain to have to be playing around with different audio output devices on a regular basis for my day job vs. streaming side gig, especially since all of the headphones don't get used all of the time. I've also looked into rolling back the Realtek driver (and all the BT+USB headphone drivers), but there's no option to do that for any of them - greyed out on each one.
The audio output devices are:
1. UE Mini Boom speaker (BT) - primary for daily use
2. Corsair HS70 Pro headset (USB) - primary for streaming
3. Samsung Level On headphones (BT) - backup/day job for meetings
TL;DR - Is it possible to FULLY decouple OBS Studio recording volume from the Windows 11 master volume and have it set to record at 100% all the time with all devices? Or am I just screwed and have to set Windows audio to 100% and turn down the audio on each BT/USB device individually?
Thanks!
