Question / Help Connection drops sometimes?

Hello, I'm a Twitch.tv MapleStory streamer which is a 2D side-scrolling game. I usually run quality on 10, max bitrate on 600, fps on 30, base resolution on 1280x720 and x264 CPU preset on 'veryfast' as shown here: http://www.twitch.tv/malwear/b/437652410. Also, I'm usually only able to stream those settings for about two hours. Though, as of lately I've not been able to stream anything at that quality. I'll start streaming and it'll stay green for ten seconds and then turn completely red and unable to recover, dropping frames every few seconds. This never used to happen, as shown in the video I was perfectly able to stream at those settings. I've tried changing my routers channels from autochannel, changing Twitch.tv servers, changing the stream output to another account and updating my routers firmware. Nothing seems to be helping me, do you have any ideas?

Other information:
Monitor: 1920x1080
Router: DSL-2780
Server currently: EU: London, UK.
Video Adapter: Intel(R) HD Graphics (Yes, terrible, I know. My old gaming computer broke.)
Processor: Intel Core i3 x4

Whereas SpeedTest has its validity for certain scenarios, it does not really give a clear idea on how a connection will do during streaming. Alternately, for streaming purposes, http://testmy.net/upload gives a more accurate representation. SpeedTest is bursty whereas TestMy.net is more sustained.

So, if you would, please run an upload test at TestMy.net, making sure to pick a server near the one you've been streaming to. Obviously both should be as near to you as possible.

What you could consider is dropping the bitrate there a bit and going with CBR instead. Whereas VBR Q-10 will look better, it will also make the bandwidth use more spikey; possibly exceeding your available bandwidth. The last entry in that log there showed you dropping 38% of all frames. Which really does mean your connection simply was unable to sustain the bitrate and quality specified.

Could you run it at 500 Kbps CBR (Enable CBR, Enable CBR Padding, No Custom Buffer Size) for a while and see if the stream stabilizes like that? And then post a log of that?

How much are you actually paying for? I mean, what is your connection supposed to be? Because as it is there simply is no way to support a stable and watchable stream; with the connection in its current condition.

I have no idea for the answers to that, it's a home connection. That two days ago I was able to stream Q-10 and bitrate 700 with it going yellow only a few times and then perfectly green. I've tried Q-10 and bitrate 600 knowing nobody else was using the connection and it would still start green then turn red.
Should I just give up? streaming was fun whilst it lasted I guess. :/

I would send you the log of the video mentioned in the opening message of this topic but it's too much characters (over 60000, I think).

Did you change anything in between it working and it no longer working? Anything at all? New OBS version; reinstallation of Windows? Anything? If not, contact your ISP to see if there have been reports of issues in your area. Because if you did nothing and it just stopped working it may in fact be your ISP that is "at fault".

Well, after streaming for those 2 hours (video at the top) it turned red in the end so I looked for solutions and the only difference I did was change the router channel in the DSL-2780 control panel, to no avail I basically did everything said at the top after that.

Well, one thing you could also consider is simply reverting that change and then restarting modem and router. It could simply be a minor glitch having crept up there.

Everything except the update I've reverted.
Would restarting mean pressing the tiny button I have at the back to reset or just turning off for 10 seconds and back on?

Reset is what it says, a reset. Don't want to do that. Just want to restart, so, yes, just turn them off for 10 seconds. Although personally I prefer 30 seconds, but, well... yeah, just turn them off.

I streamed with the exact same settings as the beginning of this post and now it's only starting green for about three seconds. Maybe it's the rain? I have no idea.

Call your ISP, just to see if there have been reports of issues in your area. Or maybe some form of maintenance in your area that has disrupted the stability of your connection.

I'm able to stream World of Warcraft (3D game) Q-10 and bitrate 700, does that mean it's just because other people were using up my internet?

Question / Help Connection drops sometimes?
