Question / Help Capturing video with Avermedia Game Broadcaster HD

I'm trying to use Game Broadcaster HD to capture PS2 via component cables as is depicted in this diagram, except of course a different console and disregarding the HDMI:

I don't get any video, however. Are there any known settings or fixes for this that I'm not finding? All I see are topics regarding problems with the video people do manage to capture. It's not the PS2 cable causing the problem as I'm able to use it on my TV without any problems.

You are most likely setting the resolution wrong (or the card's drivers are picking the wrong resolution) in the source properties in OBS.

Tick the "Use custom resolution" checkbox, set the resolution to 720x480 (or 720x576 if PAL) and the frame rate to 29.97 (or 25 if PAL). Very few PS2 games support 480p, so this is the most likely to work. However, if this is a low resolution game (such as a PS1 game), it will not work with most capture cards, including this one.

This is strange; before I was only getting a black screen but when I use a custom resolution/framerate such as the ones you suggested I actually see "No signal".

Either way that doesn't seem to be the solution. For reference the game I'm trying to capture is Final Fantasy X-2.

Well, it technically is the solution, but now you're most likely using the wrong input. I unfortunately don't have a Game Broadcaster HD myself, but if it's anything like the CaptureHD/h727, you should click the "Open Crossbar" button in the source properties and try switching to a different video input pin.

The only two input pins available are Video RGB In and Video SerialDigital In, both of which result in the same problem on any resolution/framerate. Which one should I be using for the type of connection I'm attempting, or does it depend?

Like I said, I don't have one of these myself. Does the card have two separate devices listed when you select it from the list in OBS? If so, you also need to actually pick the right "device". The H727 at least functions this way, but I'm not sure about the other AVerMedia cards.

Do you use the same cable to connect it to your tv as well as capture card (switching it around I presume)?
Yeah, it's just a component cable for the PS2.

No, the only device is AVerMedia HD Capture.
