Question / Help Capturing skype raw feed for documentary film. Possible?

Hello!

Is it possible to record incoming and outgoing skype calls using OBS?

It would be good if it would be relatively transparent to the user, as many of them are old people, and people not technically savvy. (it's a documentary about a village, where almost half has moved to a village in another country. The people stay in touch mostly with skype. )

I imagine OBS dumping video and audio to disk whenever the webcam is in use or something like that.

It would be good if the users would only have to have OBS open, the rest could happen in the background.

Is this technically possible? Even with scripting? Could it also record incoming video separately?

Best regards,

you could just setup a profile in OBS to record audio and use a application capture to make it target skype. You could then train the end user to just open OBS and hit record when they want to record and just exit the application when they are done. You can show them where it stores the videos and make it a shorcut on the desktop.

Yes I understand, but it's no way to intercept the raw video? From the webcam directly, and also incoming to skype?

you can setup the obs to capture this (just add a capture device in scene). you can adjust it as you see fit.

You can't add the webcam to OBS and have it active in Skype at the same time. The device can only be used in a single application.
