Question / Help 8889000A Could not initialize audio client (solved)

Hi i have an "Cannot initialize desktop audio sound, more info in the log file" error.

What i already tried.
64 & 32 OBS
Disallowing Exclusive Mode
Start with a game open (Planetary Annahilation) and without any game.

Use non Viritual Audio Device

Warning -- MMDeviceAudioSource::Initialize(0): Could not initialize audio client, result = 8889000A


The last time tried to steam was months ago and I think i used a Asus Xonar at the time.

The error means "Device is in use", are you sure exclusive is disabled? Not sure why you'd be getting that sort of error with it if it's disabled.

Yea, I know you typed that, I just had to say that because that's what the error is -- I actually have no clue why that would be happening, though if you want you could try the new "use input device for desktop audio" and try capturing "Stereo Mix" or "What you hear" as the desktop device. Unfortunately I've never particularly encountered someone having this error before on a desktop sound device so I'm just as confused as you are in this case.

Sorry if I seem a little bit unfriendly with my answer.

Too much bad experience with people that answer without really reading.
But thank you for your answer.

The good news is I solved the problem.
By cleaning my Audio drivers and reinstalling them.
